Obituary of Johnny Ross Burdett

Mr. Johnny Ross Burdett, age 81, passed away Saturday December 24, 2022 at his residence from an extended illness.  Johnny was born in Spencer on June 23, 1941 to the late Henry Clay and Sarah Elizabeth Brewer Burdett. Johnny spent twenty-one years in the U. S. Airforce, serving in Vietnam and had the rank of Master Sargeant.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife; Adeline Burdett, brothers; Clifford, Fred, Harry, Bruce, Eugene, Ernest, and Dennis Burdett, sisters; Bernice Gentry, Bessie Burdett, Betty Rose Burdett, Elizabeth Wood, and Doris Pauline Burdett.

Johnny is survived by his wife; Eldelmira Burdett, daughters; Jackie (Patrick) McGrew and Valerie Vinning, son; Chris (Johnna) LeVern, brother; Kenneth (Susie) Burdett, sister; Bertha Mae (Bobby) Shockley, sister-in-law; Brenda Burdett, five granddaughters, two great granddaughters and one great-grandson.  Many nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Friday December 30, 2022at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Cecil VanWinkle officiating. Visitation times are Thursday 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday 12:00pm till time of service at 2:00pm.  Burial will occur Tuesday January 3, 2023 in the Veterans National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Wounded Warriors Project or donate to your local Veterans Support Groups.
