Obituary of Gerry W. Martin

Gerry W. "Big Daddy" Martin, age 68, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at NHC of McMinnville. Mr. Martin was born July 23, 1948 in Warren County to the late Raymond Wade Martin and the late Reta (Cole) Martin. He was employed for 27 years by the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Survivors include Sisters, Sharon Gaye Hillis and husband Kelly of McMinnville, and Judy Marston and husband Tony of Pikeville; Nephews, Jeffery Cole and wife Cheryl and Dale Cole; Nieces, Glenece Cole, Kellie Groce and husband Brent, Tara Hanson and husband John; Great Nephew, Cody Cole, Tyler Groce, Mitchell Madewell; Great nieces, Carly Cole, Meghan Madewell, Taylor Groce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Argo) Martin and brother, Glen “Red” Cole. The Celebration of Life will be Sunday July 31, 2016 at Layne Funeral Home at 4:00 PM with Larry Bouldin, Kelly Hillis, and friends officiating. Burial will follow at the Spencer Town Cemetery. There will be a period of visitation with the family on Saturday from 2 until 8 PM and again on Sunday from 9 AM until time of service.
