Coalmont - David Ray Tate, 81, died Friday, July 09, 2010. He was born in Palmer, TN on October 04, 1928 to Joe and Ethel Gross Tate who preceded him in death along with his wife, Lucinda walker Tate; daughter, Myrna D King; sister, Mildred Melton; brothers, Joe B., Herschell L. and Billy Floyd Tate; 2 infant great-grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Tate; son, David Ray (Theresa) Tate, Jr.; daughters, Karen (Steve) West and Mary Ruth (Randall) Stevens; step-daughters, Dottie (Jackie) Davis and Melissa Mitchell; sister, Mary Ellen Ferrell; 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Don Hill and Albert Nunley officiating with burial to follow in the Grace Chapel Cemetery. Visitation: 4:00 PM till 9:00 PM Saturday at Layne Funeral Home; Altamont, TN.
