Gruetli-Laager - James E. Burnett, 72, died Monday, January 04, 2010 at Vanderbilt Hospital. He was a retired Coalminer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Mary Hargis Burnett; brothers, Johnny and Paul Burnett; sister, Nelline Singleton. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Meeks Burnett; son, Jeff (Teresa) Burnett; daughters, Vickie (Dan) Layne, Karen (Jim) Layne and LaDonna (Eric) Green; grandchildren, Hollie, Dale, Anthony, Shane, Justin, Jake, Erica, Whitney and Emily; great-grandson, Dakota; sisters, Mary Rogers and Bess (Doug) Brown. Funeral services were Thursday, January 07, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with burial following in the Fall Creek Cemetery. James was a hard working family man dearly loved by his family. He will be sadly missed by all.
