Obituary of Eddie Smoot Barnes

Spencer, TN-Eddie Smoot Barnes, age 73, passed away Tuesday July 25, 2023 at Parkridge Medical Center in Jasper, TN.  Eddie was born on August 26, 1949 to the late Edward and Katherine Grissom Barnes.  He was a resident of Old Baker Mtn. Road, a self-employed truck driver and a graduate of Van Buren County High School Class of 1967.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters; Shelby Jean Mills and Peggy Ann Barnes.

Eddie is survived by his loving family, sons; Bill (April) Barnes of Spencer, Cody Barnes of Spencer, daughter; Daphenie Barnes Alexander of Tullahoma, grandchildren; Brandon Barnes, Owen Alexander, and Jaylyn (Zach) Blaylock, great-grandchildren; Evrett and Wrenley Blaylock, brother-in-law; Joe Bob Mills, nephew; Kent Mills. An extended family also survives.

Funeral services will be held Friday July 28, 2023 at 11:00am in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Bob McCoy officiating.  Burial will follow in the Long Cemetery.  Visitation times are Thursday 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Friday 9:00am till time of service at 11:00am.
