Obituary of Vernon Preston Moore

Spencer, TN-Mr. Vernon Preston Moore, age 73, passed away Wednesday June 21, 2023 at Hospice of Chattanooga.  Vernon was born in Whitwell, TN on November 1, 1949 to the late Luther and Ethel Dill Moore.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a superintendent with Plateau Excavation and was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters; Jewell Harmon and Christine Tate, brother-in-law; Dr. Al Propp.

Vernon is survived by his loving family, daughter; Puppett (Randy) Griffin, sons; Adam (Crystal) Keener, Heath (Whitney) Moore and Preston (Melissa) Moore, sisters; Mary Ruth Propp and Margaret (Jerry) Swank, brother-in-law; Eugene Harmon, grandchildren; Jessica, Garrett, Courtney, Corinne, Colton, Morgan, Collin, Jackson, Briley, Grayden, Noah, Lorie Anna and Kylee. Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday June 24, 2023 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Wayne Sullivan officiating.  Burial will follow in the Haston Cemetery (Mooneyham Community). Visitation times are Friday 4:00 to 9:00pm and Saturday 10:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.
