Obituary of James LeGrand McGaughy

Mr. James (Jim)  LeGrand McGaughy passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Jim was born on February 5, 1948 to the late James LeGrand McGaughy and the late Mamie Sue Waggoner McGaughy Akin. Jim retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Revenue after serving 30 years of service as Supervisor of the Field Audit Division. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Tennessee Technological University.

He served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge as Captain in Field Artillery on August 27, 1978.

Jim is survived by wife; Mary Meadows McGaughy, daughter; Kelly McGaughy Phillips (Quincy), son; Ryan McGaughy, step-son; Kenneth Dixon (Heather) sister; Jo McGaughy Francisco, niece; Sydney Jo Francisco Hardin (Davidson) five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday December 29, 2022 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Tony Langston officiating.  Burial will follow in the Spencer Town Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10:00am and continue till time of service at 2:00pm.
