Maddox Forsythe

Obituary of Maddox Colt Forsythe

Please share a memory of Maddox to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Spencer, TN-Maddox Colt Forsythe, age 5, passed suddenly July 1, 2021. Maddox was born in Murfreesboro, TN on December 30, 2015 to Lansford Paul and Wendy Mooneyham Forsythe.  Maddox was a happy child and became friends with everyone he met. He attended Spencer Church of Christ, with his parents, where he was always seen with a smile on his face.

Maddox was preceded in death by grandfather; Lansford Forsythe, and great-grandfathers; Olen Mooneyham and James Walling.

In addition to his loving parents, Maddox is survived by brothers; Lansford Draven (Zoe) Forsythe and Colton Briley (Emee) Forsythe, sister; Lowen Mooneyham, grandparents; June Forsythe, Larry and Sharon Walling Mooneyham, great-grandmothers; Mildred Walling and Billie Sue Mooneyham, nephew Case Forsythe, niece; Rubye Kate Forsythe, first cousin; Ledger Pickett. A large extended family also survives.

Maddox Colt entered this world on a winter afternoon with a crowded waiting room of over 40 people anxiously awaiting his arrival. The hospital staff said they’d never seen anything like it. He came with the bluest of eyes, blonde hair, and a perfect dimple on his chin. He loved the story of his birth.

Maddox was truly “all boy”. Rarely was he seen without a rock, stick, bug, or worm in his hands. He was always dressed like a little gentleman, but it never hindered him from finding a mud puddle and enjoying it until it was dry. He was in his glory being outside playing, fishing, hiking, working, or playing t-ball. He loved his ATV, his dirt bike, and the tractor.

He was extraordinarily smart, witty and was a jokester. He never stopped smiling, nor talking. He never met a stranger. Everyone was his best friend. He absolutely loved school, his teachers, and schoolmates. He was a very proud little big uncle to Rubye Kate and Case. He adored all babies, his big brothers, Lolo, and his cousins. He absolutely loved his mama and daddy. He always had to sleep in the middle. Likewise, he was the center of their lives.

Maddox can be summed up with the words pure joy. He lived in it, was full of it and brought it to all he encountered in this world. Most importantly of all, he loved Jesus. He honored him daily with his sincere prayers. Jesus was always in his little heart.

To honor Maddox, Paul and Wendy ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Boyd Christian School in McMinnville, TN.  This gesture is requested so that other children receive a Christian education and follow Jesus.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 6, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. R. C. Christian and Bro. Turner Binkley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shockley Cemetery.  Visitation hours are Monday 4:00-9:00pm and Tuesday 10:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.
