Obituary of Charles "Nig" Clayton Cope
Spencer, TN-Mr. Charles C. “Nig” Cope, age 92, passed from this life Friday June 18, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. A native of Van Buren County, he was born on March 28, 1929 to the late Mike and Maggie Lee Hickerson Cope. He was married on December 25, 1947 to his loving late wife Willie Mae Bouldin Cope who passed away July 31, 2014. He was a landfill operator for Van Buren County and a member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by son; Jeffery Wayne Cope, daughter; Jackie Palladino, brothers; Donald, James and Kenneth Cope, sister; Claudine Burns.
Nig is survived by his loving family, sons; Charles (Sue) Cope of Apex, NC, and Steve (Lynn) Cope of Spencer, daughters; Charlotte (David) Shockley, Beverley Cope, Melissa Cope and Tammy (Doug) Sullivan all of Spencer. Twenty-four grandchildren, many many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday June 20, 2021 at 4:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Michael Cope officiating. Visitation hours are Sunday the 20th 1:00pm till time of service at 4:00pm. Mr. Cope chose cremation, which will occur after the service.
