Obituary of Averian Louise Basham

Mrs. Averian “Ave” Louise Basham, age 55, passed away Tuesday December 22, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Hospital from a short illness. A Cookeville resident and Van Buren County native, Ave was a long-time employee of Research Electronics International in Cookeville, TN.  She was born September 6, 1965 to the late Charlie Joe and Janice Faye Shockley Swindell.

Ave was a member of the Church of Christ and a graduate of Van Buren County High School Class of 1983. She loved being on the water and was a Big Tennessee VOLS fan. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

In addition to her parents Ave was preceded in death by her brother; Joe Christopher Swindell, paternal grandparents; Theron and Girlene Swindell, maternal grandparents; Joe and Demi Shockley, father and mother-in-law; Clyde and Louzetta Basham.

Ave is survived by her loving husband of twenty-five years Shea Basham, son; Josh (Autumn) Curtis, sisters; Rebecca Adcock, Carla (Freddy) Solomon, Lisa (Shane) Rigsby and Carmella (Doug) Schoonover, grandchildren; Cruz and Luna Curtis, step-son; Brandon Basham; Shea’s brother and sisters; Dewayne (Debbie) Basham, Renea (Jim) Sabia and Nancy (Danny) Campbell. Several nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday December 27, 2020 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Larry Bouldin officiation and Bro. William Shockley reading the obituary and eulogy. Burial will follow in the Shockley Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Sunday 10:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.

COVID-19 guidelines must be followed for the funeral and visitation. Wearing a mask, social distancing and limiting your visit time will greatly reduce the spread of COVID-19.
