Obituary of Billy Eugene Martin

Mr. Billy Eugene Martin, 77, of Hazel Green, Alabama, passed away on Saturday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Martin was born on August 22, 1943 in McMinnville, Warren County, Tennessee, to Wallace and Ruth Worthington Martin.  He graduated from Van Buren County High School in 1961 and married his wife of 58 years in 1962, Becky Judd.   He had retired from Tennessee State Parks where he served as a Park Ranger/Manager for more than 40 years.   He was a member of Plainview Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his grandson, Vincent Baker.

Surviving family members include his two daughters, Lisa (Noel) Carper of Rome, Georgia and Marcella (Lonnie) Baker of Hazel Green, Alabama;  Five grandchildren: Joshua (Sara) Corder of Smyrna, Georgia, Jordan Brooke (Matt) Green of St. Augstine, Florida, Alex Baker and Elijah Baker, both of Hazel Green, Alabama, and Kallan Carper of Rome, Georgia. He is also survived by a bonus granddaughter, Selena Garcia and two great-grandsons, Bryson and Beckham Green of St. Augustine, Florida.

SERVICE INFORMATION

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2pm at the funeral home with Bro. Gene Brock,  Bro. Steve Hale, and Shane Petty, Tennessee State Parks Chief Ranger officiating.  

Visitation will also be held at Layne Funeral Home in Spencer, Tenneesee on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1pm in the funeral home chapel and burial will follow in Long Cemetery in Van Buren County, Tennessee.

The family will appreciate everyone wearing a mask and practicing social distancing in light of Covid19.
