Obituary of Donnie Hillis

Spencer, TN-Mr. Donald (Donnie) T. Hillis, age 83, passed away Tuesday October 13, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Donnie was born February 12, 1937, in the Rocky River Community of Van Buren County, to the late Homer Cleveland and Geneva Johnson Hillis.  He was retired from Dunn Steel/Acumet Global and a member of the Shockley Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Ida Madewell Hillis, who passed away in 2001 and sister Glenna Kay Dean.

Donnie is survived by his daughters; Tammie (Ronnie) Clendenon and Jeanne (Les) Ottinger, brothers; Stanley (Faye Huddleston) Hillis, Douglas (Bonnie) Hillis, James Hugh (Charlotte) Hillis, Marty (Zeda) Hillis, sisters; Norma Sue Grissom and Sharon Shockley, grandchildren; Meleah (Trevor) Carlyle, Hayden (Ashley) Ottinger, Cameron (Morgan) Clendenon and Hannah (Trey) Lane, great-grandson; Barrett Clendenon.

The family would like to thank Donnie's caregivers; Andrea Selby, Eddie Janco, and Caris Healthcare. 

Funeral services will be held Friday October 16, 2020 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. R.C. Christian, Bro. William Shockley, and Bro. Kelly Dishman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shockley Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 2:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday 10:00am till service time at 2:00pm.
