Obituary of Rayburn Prater
Spencer, TN-Mr. Rayburn “Rowdy Red” Prater, 68, passed away Tuesday August 6, 2019, from a short illness, surrounded by his family. Rayburn was born June 5, 1951 to the late Carlos and Lula Belle Curtis Prater, was a native of Bledsoe County and a resident of Van Buren County (Piney Community). He was a Logger and attended the Church of God.
Besides his parents Rayburn was preceded in death by brother; Eugene “Bo” Prater and nephew; Trampus Holloway.
Rayburn is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Joyce Webb Prater, sister; Alene Walker of Dunlap, special nieces; Tera (Barry) Wooden and Tabatha (Terry) Webb all of Spencer, great-nieces and nephews; Dakota, Wyatt and Dalton Wooden, Katlin Cole and Samantha Floyd, great-great niece Scarlett Wooden. Several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.
Special thanks to friends who brought food and visited Rayburn at home, he enjoyed visiting with you all. Thank you to Avalon Hospice for the care they provided.
Funeral services will be held Thursday August 8, 2019 at 2:00pm in the Layne Spencer Chapel with Bro. David Rogers, Bro. Darrell Nance and Bro. Andy Smith officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday the 7th from 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday the 8th from 9:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.
