Obituary of Hobert Veon Gilbert
Spencer, TN- Mr. Hobert Veon Gilbert, 86, passed away Thursday June 6, 2019 at his residence from an extended illness. He was born June 19, 1932 to the late Richard and Lydia Beach Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was of the Church of God faith and attended Clark’s Chapel Church of God.
Hobert was employed for many years with the State of Tennessee as a heavy equipment operator, prisoner transporter and driver for the Senior Companion Program along with many other jobs.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers; Hershel, Donald, Justin, S. L., Brown, Albert, Hoover, Herbert Gilbert, sisters; Mable and Lillian Gilbert, stepbrother; Jack Johnson.
He is survived by his wife; Birdie Mae Brock Gilbert of Spencer, TN, daughters; Phyllis Gilbert of Spencer, TN, Pat (Jimmy) Wallace of Sparta, TN, Brenda (Danny) Kendall of Celina, TN, grandson; Blake (Lelia) Reed of Rockwood, TN, great-granddaughters; Ava, Riley and Madilyn Reed of Rockwood, TN, Special brother; J. D. Simmons of Spencer, TN, special son; Danny (Cathy) Brock of Spencer. Several nieces and nephews living in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and California.
Funeral services will be Sunday June 9, 2019 at 2:00PM with Bro. Jason Stevens, Bro. Gene Brock and Bro. Bob McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Town Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday June 8, 2019 from 4:00PM to 9:00PM and Sunday from 11:00AM till time of service.
