Obituary of David Gerald Shockley

Spencer, TN-Mr. David Gerald Shockley, 74, formerly of Florida, passed away Sunday December 30, 2018 at NHC Sparta. He was born March 24, 1944 in Des Moines, IA to the late Joseph David and Mary Moorehead Shockley.  He was a retired truck driver and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by brother; Leroy Shockley, sisters; Mary Joe Turner, Gladys Shockley McFarland and Pauline Shockley Rose.

He is survived by; his loving wife of 54 years Janice Weaver Shockley of Spencer, sons; David Shockley, Jr. of Florida and Matt (Natalie) Shockley of Spencer, daughters; Valarie (Ricky) Hurley of Rutledge, TN, Shirley (Tony) Magnus of Walling, TN and Tammy Shockley of Spencer, brother; Donnie Shockley, sisters; Beverly Green and Julia Smith, 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday January 12, 2019 at 1:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Ricky Hurley officiating.
